Investing in your teeth
Have you ever thought about how much work our bodies have to do as we go through our hopefully long and happy lives? Feet walk for miles and dance all night. Hearts beat non-stop, sometimes very fast. And teeth, well, teeth bite down and grind our food into pastes that we can swallow and digest. They help out in making clear sounds called words so we can communicate and they play a vital role in non-verbal communication too, as an intrinsic part of our smile. They never stop working for us. If our cars worked half as hard as our teeth and were less disposable, we’d be taking them in for services and minor repairs much more often. So, why don’t we look after our teeth more, and invest in ways to keep them going as long as possible?
One way, we can extend the life of our teeth is by making sure they are well lined up in the jawbone, sitting snuggly against each other, not leaning in or out, and with no twists or gaps. When teeth are well aligned, they are so much easier to keep clean. And keeping teeth clean is the major way we can ensure their longevity.
Here at Parbold Dental Practice in Ormskirk, we know that a lot of people don’t want to get into teeth straightening treatments because they think it will mean having to wear unsightly metal braces on their teeth for a long time, perhaps two or three years. They’d rather deal with decay and gum disease in later life than go through the indignity of wearing an appliance forever associated with nerdy adolescence, and how can we blame them? We wouldn’t want to either, which is why we have invested in being able to offer Invisalign to our patients.
This great way of straightening mild to moderate misalignments takes all the hassle and embarrassment out of having your teeth straightened. Instead of having brackets and wires fixed to the fronts of your teeth, you get a series of very thin plastic aligners that are pretty much unnoticeable to the untrained eye and removable for eating and drinking. Why not come in for a consultation?
