Keeping your face looking lovely
There are so many brilliant ways to keep your teeth looking amazing, but what about your face? By the time we are in our late 30s, things are starting to happen in the face that can be depressing. But who to trust in taking care of our most valued body part? How about the people who have incredible in-depth knowledge of its anatomy, and years of postgraduate experience in taking care of it? How about your dentist? It seems a bit weird until you ponder on just how much time dentists spend learning and training and how adept we are in using dental equipment in precise ways.
That’s why at Parbold Dental in Ormskirk, we now offer facial aesthetics treatments to soften wrinkles and folds without permanent cosmetic surgery. We have two treatments that can work together or separately to smooth and fill out spots where age is getting the better of your face. Botox and dermal fillers complement each other wonderfully.
Botox
Botox is the brand name for injections of the botulinum A type toxin. It temporarily blocks the nerve impulses that tell the muscles to contract, thus paralysing them and smoothing out lines. It takes about a week for the treatment to be fully effective. Botox is particularly popular for frown lines and forehead lines. Treatments last for about three months.
Dermal fillers
Our filler contains hyaluronic acid, a substance that the body produces naturally to form bonds between skin cells and retain moisture. Unfortunately, from the age of about 30, natural production decreases, and that’s why our skin starts to lose its plump and glowing look. Without high levels of hyaluronic acid, our skin starts to look faded and to hang on our bones, creating hollows. With dermal filler containing hyaluronic acid, we are using something natural that is missing from your face. Dermal fillers are injected into areas such as the nasolabial folds that run between our noses and mouths, or the marionette lines that run down from our mouths. It is also very effective in plumping out the top lip, crow’s feet, and hollows in the cheeks. Effects last up to a year.
